Enjoy a leisurely cruise through Pelorus Sound to Wilson Bay Historic Farm. Settled in 1881 and still farmed by direct descendants of the same family to this day.
Learn about life in this remote and beautiful location where the farm has no road access and everything must come and go by boat or barge. There is no mains electricity, so produce their own power by home made hydro-electric scheme and stand-by generator. There are no shops so they hunt & fish and grow their own food. There are no schools so have to home school their children.
You will get to see a demonstration of how they muster their sheep from the steep and remote land with dogs and how they shear the sheep. You will get to meet the family who live hear and hear about the generations of the same family who have worked this land.
Have a look through the shearing shed where generations have worked and feel the new shorn wool fleece and feel the lanolin on your hands.
